Freedom experimentation colour and the way paint moves, it as much about thoughts as lack of thoughts, it’s an attempt to go beyond my reality into a new reality, it’s about imagination, about learning, about breaking my rules and finding new ones. It’s so profound in its action, touching on the the surreal the unconscious the mysterious. A wild and confident move not a dab or a question but a knowing or an intension to know. How often in life can we live in this way striking out with belief to find it.
The artist known as "Woet Edwin," is a talented maker living in Tāmaki Makaurau, also known as Auckland. He began his creative journey as a self-taught photographer and worked as a welder. His love for art led him to apply to art schools, where he learned from other artists and developed his skills further. In 2003, he started studying at Ucol School of Photography in Palmerston North. This experience opened his eyes to new artistic ideas and techniques. Later, from 2011 to 2014, he attended Elam School of Fine Arts in Auckland, where he continued to explore his passion for art. Through these educational experiences he has grown as an artist and found his unique style.
